GitHub has rolled out a significant update to its billing structure for Enterprise Cloud users with data residency, specifically targeting those subscribed to the GitHub Copilot plan. Effective August 2025, the platform will now charge for premium request usage beyond a monthly allowance per user. This MOVE aligns billing more closely with actual consumption of premium models and features.

The update leaves other aspects of the consumptive billing experience unchanged, building on GitHub's June 2025 announcement. Premium requests, which trigger additional charges when exceeding the allotted limit, remain governed by existing terms. The adjustment reflects GitHub's ongoing efforts to refine its pricing model for high-usage enterprise clients.
